8 Days Through Iceland on Horseback
The Hekla volcano is often called the “Queen of Iceland”. Each day of this trip reminds visitors of the destructive power within the many volcanos on the island. In contrast to the moon-like landscape of the volcanos, the journey also takes in the colourful mountains of Landmannalaugar and a natural hot spring where holidaymakers can soothe tired muscles.
The beautiful region of Landmannhellir marks the start of the central highlands, before the Rhyolite Mountains with their eye-catching colours framed by impressive black lava fields. The trip back to civilisation leads down through lush green valleys. The friendly and calm Iceland horses used for this journey make it ideal for ambitious riders wishing to explore some of the more remote areas of the country.

What´s included
- Airport transfer to/from accommodation in Reykjavik (no transfer if holiday is extended)
- 2 nights in Reykjavik incl. breakfast
- Overnight stays incl. full board during the ride (breakfast, packed lunch, dinner)
- Transport during the ride
- Riding equipment: waterproof clothing, overalls, rubber boots, water bottle, saddlebag, saddle and bridle, riding helmet and sleeping bag with sheet (we recommend bringing your own sleeping bag)
- 3-4 horses per person
- Local riding guide and cook
- Luggage transport: luggage is transported in a separate vehicle. Soft travel bags are preferred (no hard-sided suitcases)
- Horse change: once or twice daily; on longer stages we will ride alongside wild horses
Single room surcharge for two nights in Reykjavik: €180 per person Child discount (9 – 12 years): 25% Max. 16 participants (often fully booked at an early stage)
