12-Day Offroad Adventure Around Iceland
This round trip in an off-road vehicle takes visitors along highland roads to some of the most remote, spectacular and fascinating sights in Iceland.
Nights can be spent in a tent or inside the large jeep. You will visit the Golden Circle with the old parliament building Þingvellir, geysers and the golden waterfall Gullfoss.
The journey includes a stunning drive along the highland road to Landmannalaugar (the colourful mountains), crossing numerous rivers along the way. Nights are spent in the trekking village Landmannalaugar with baths and showers in a hot natural spring. In the south of Icland you can enjoy the Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, the cliffs of Dyrhólaey and the Jökulsárlon glacier lagoon.
Offroad adventures take in the glacier valley of Thorsmörk, the Laki craters and the Askja, where visitors can bathe in a warm crater lake. If the weather is good you can visit the new lava field of Holuhraun, which was created as the result of an eruption in 2014.
Hikers will enjoy exploring the Hverfjall crater and the lava fields of Dimmuborgir in the Mývatn region famous for its lakes. Another great way to discover the highlands of Iceland is with a trip on the Sprengisandur highland road.
Optional highlights in the west of Iceland include a visit to the steaming waters of the Blue Lagoon and of course a trip to the capital Reykjavik. This trip is only possible with very sturdy and reliable off-road vehicles.

Flight
IcelandTour.info currently does not book flights. However, we will be happy to provide advice on this topic and adapt our holidays to the flight options available.
Additional Rental Car Insurance
CDW (Vehicle Damage Cover) insurance is included in the travel package. The excess is is 300,000 ISK (depending on the exchange rate approx. $2,500). Not included in CDW is for instance: intentional damage, damage to wheels, damage caused by crossing rivers, damage by stones on the windshield, damage to the underneath of the car, damage from ash, etc. The excess can be reduced for an extra fee of 120,000 ISK. Extra insurance can be taken out to cover against damage from falling stones and ash. We will be happy to provide advice on this topic.
- Child seats can be hired for €50.
- Drivers must be at least 20 years old (25 years for SUVs).
- An international credit card is required when picking up the rental vehicle.

Increase of Icelandic VAT
The Icelandic government is planning an increase of VAT for hotels from 7,5% to 25%. The date and actual percentage is currently not yet known. This increase could lead to a price increase for existing bookings of up to 7 %
